Welcome to the 13th International Conference of the African Materials Research Society (AMRS 2026), which will be held at the University of Nairobi, Kenya, from 7–10 December 2026, with pre-conference workshops on 5–6 December 2026 and an excursion for interested participants planned for 10 December.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are delighted to invite researchers, academics, industry leaders, policymakers, innovators, and students from across Africa and around the world to join us for this premier gathering of the materials science community.
The conference theme, “Materials Science and Innovation: Driving Sustainable Development and Socio-Economic Transformation in Africa,” reflects the critical role of materials research in addressing challenges in energy, healthcare, agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and emerging technologies. AMRS 2026 will provide an international platform for sharing cutting-edge research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, strengthening partnerships, and promoting the translation of scientific discoveries into practical solutions that benefit society.
The scientific programme features distinguished keynote and invited speakers, technical symposia spanning the breadth of modern materials science, poster presentations, panel discussions, networking events, and specialized pre-conference workshops designed to enhance the skills of students and early-career researchers. The conference also includes special sessions highlighting the African Light Source initiative, UNESCO Chairs, and the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence in Materials Science.
